How to Make Tashreeb – Kuwaiti Dishes & Recipes

Ingredients

  • For the lamb, you will need the following:
    • One kilogram of lamb chunks
    • Two tablespoons of olive oil
    • Five cardamom pods
    • One cinnamon stick
    • One piece of crushed mastic
    • A half-sliced onion
  • You will need these ingredients for the sauce
    • Two tablespoons of butter
    • Two onions – sliced
    • Two chopped tomatoes
    • One can of chickpeas
    • Two pieces of dried limes
    • One or two tablespoons of mixed spices
    • One tablespoon of curry powder
    • Two tablespoons of tomato paste
    • One flatbread
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Add olive to a large pot and fry the meat/lamb chunks
  2. Add onion, mastic, and spices with enough water to cover the meat
  3. Cook until the meat is tender
  4. Drain the meat and reserve the stock
  5. Add butter and onions to the pot
  6. Add a pinch of salt to prevent caramelizing
  7. Now add chickpeas, dried limes, tomatoes, mixed spices, and curry powder
  8. Next, cook these ingredients for a few minutes
  9. Add the tomato paste and mix it with the rest of the ingredients
  10. Cook for a few minutes before putting in the meat stock
  11. Bring the mixture to a boil and lower the heat
  12. Simmer for 30 to 40 minutes
  13. Serve the dish in a large dish and squeeze the lime juices over the plate
  14. Enjoy the delicious dish with your family or friends
