How to Make Jareesh
Jareesh is a popular Kuwaiti dish frequently made by people living in the Saudi region of Qassim. It contains yogurt, crushed wheat, and meat, making it a healthy and delicious treat for everyone, including children and adults. Here are the ingredients and instructions to make Jareesh.
Ingredients
- Two cups of washed groats
- Two teaspoons of salt
- Two teaspoons of mixed spices
- Two teaspoons of black pepper
- One finely chopped onion
- Two tablespoons of butter
- Six pieces of Kiri cheese
- One chopped onion for garnishing
Instructions
- Add butter to the saucepan and melt it over a medium heat
- Now add onions and cook for two minutes
- Add the shredded chicken to the cooked onions and stir well
- Add chicken broth, mixed spices, and salt
- Add Kiri cheese to the chicken and stir for 30-60 seconds
- Now put in some washed groats and stir for another two minutes
- Add boiling water to the pot to cover the groats
- Continue stirring for two minutes
- Heat the butter in a frying pan and add the chopped onions
- Stir for three minutes and set aside
- Pour the groats into a plate or dish
- Use butter and fried onion for garnishing and serve
